One of the reasons I like the Keyboardio Model01 keyboard is the Any key in top left corner of the right half of the keyboard.

Creating an OpenPGP Web-of-Trust Implementation – A Series

I am excited to announce that PGPainless will receive funding by NGI Assure to develop an implementation of the Web-of-Trust specification proposal!

The Web-of-Trust (WoT) serves as an example of a decentralized authentication mechanism for OpenPGP.

1. What could conferences better do to support you?

2. What policies or resources would help you decide whether to attend an in-person conference?

When we created ODF 20+ years ago, Microsoft first laughed at the committee at OASIS, then made OOXML to render it moot, then rigged ISO to make OOXML a standard, then implemented ODF and now participates in the ODF committee and helps fund its work through COSM.

#Bluesky is Twitter's OOXML to #ActivityPub and it's at the "rigging ISO" stage.

Semi-related, there is a batch of new "anti-capitalist" software licenses that is getting traction. I have similar problems with them as I have with NC and ND. I guess I should write them up, too.

But tl;dr would be: fragmenting the FLOSS codebase by using incompatible and legally unclear software licenses like that is shooting ourselves in the foot; AGPL achieves the same (big corporate capitalist entities stay the fsck away), without causing that much legal incompatibility/fragmentation.

I'm just going to place this post from @eloquence here who said it much better than I did back in 2020:

Does anyone else find it outrageous that U.N. agencies keep removing RSS feeds for their updates while prominently featuring Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube accounts on their websites? Our taxes fund these entities. We deserve open access to the content they produce.

I’d tell you a Fibonacci joke, but it’s probably as bad as the last two you’ve heard combined.

Remember the outcry for Microsoft buying GitHub and developers (allegedly) leaving en masse? It didn't happen and GitHub is as a monopoly today as it was back then. Musk/Twitter is analogous. We need to make federated alternatives better than centralized ones. Outcry won't do it.

@vwbusguy and if you happen to be a sub-compact car teaching Henry VIII how to use Mastodon, you'd be a:

Both the European and American sessions of neverworkintheory.org/ are in the bag, and they could not have gone better. Many thanks to everyone who participated.
